Brit Plays with Glass
Building a Personal
Contemporary Craft Brand
Brand Identity, Art Direction, Product Design, Photography, Video,
Social Content, Retail Experience
Brit Plays with Glass is my independent stained glass practice. When starting this brand, my goal was to merge traditional craft with contemporary art direction, positioning stained glass as collectible, and even functional design. I focused on simplifying form, obsessing over my use of color and texture, and exploring dimensionality through wire work.
What began as an exploration of glass, evolved into a study in art direction, branding, and marketing. I've enjoyed the designing and marketing almost as much as I've enjoyed creating the actual artwork. Brit Plays with Glass is both a creative practice and a branding exercise: an ongoing effort to recontextualize a traditional medium through contemporary design thinking.
Challenge / Solution
When people think of stained glass, they often imagine ornate windows and historic churches. With Brit Plays With Glass, I set out to reposition the medium within a contemporary design space, building a brand that feels modern and approachable. The familiar, such as produce and household objects, are translated into glass through simplified geometry and intentional line-work - sometimes with the aid of wire. Mirrors are incorporated to give the pieces both functionality and presence as meaningful elements within the home.

The goal was to attract a younger audience while creating a visual identity that extends seamlessly across product design, photography, social media presence, and in-person retail experiences.

Branding
Echoing the work itself, the logo and patterns center on bold geometry, vibrant colors, and a sense of modernity that is intentional and celebrated. The pattern is made up of glass shards, representing the process and medium.
Photography
I photograph the pieces either against warm, neutral backdrops or backlit by sunlight to emphasize color and translucency.
Video
I utilized Instagram reels to create fun videos, engaging with followers and showing them what I was working on.
